Gershwin-Gershwin Mallet Collection arr. Astrand (SP)-V/M

The Gershwin Mallet Collection contains five classics arranged for marimba and vibraphone ("'S Wonderful," "I Got Rhythm," "They Can't Take That Away from Me," "Summertime" from Porgy and Bess, and "Oh, Lady Be Good!"). The pieces in this collection have been arranged to give those with limited improvisational experience the opportunity of playing the melody using chords, and a bass line played on marimba.

About the arranger:
Anders Astrand regularly performs recitals and gives clinics throughout the US and Europe, both as a soloist and together with his percussion ensemble Global Percussion Network. Anders Åstrand has several times performed at PASIC (Percussive Arts Society International Convention). In his compositions, Åstrand focuses on improvisation as an essential feature for soloists as well as the ensemble. In addition to mallet music, Åstrand has been commissioned to composes for brass quintets, saxophone quartet, choirs, and big band.
