The Good: The shell is very lightweight. The mounting bracket clamps securely to a rod, and it has a nice amount of reach. If you can get it tuned up to an acceptable pitch, it can sound fantastic. The snares are indeed very sensitive. The Bad: The lugs are single-point, and cannot handle any reasonable amount of tension. This is an 8-inch snare. It's meant to be cranked up tight for electronic-type sounds. That tuning range on this drum feels like the absolute maximum limits it can go (like tuning a high-tension marching snare with a standard drum key.) The Meinl, Toca and LP versions do not have this issue. What's more, due to the lugs being garbage, the tension rods visibly bend and flex and one snapped in half so now it is stuck inside the lug. Note that the head itself was not anywhere near its maximum; there was still lots of give and the pitch of the drum was well below the standard range of the other 8" drums I mentioned above. Absolutely terrible design. If Gon Bops put high quality lugs on this drum it would destroy all its competition. As of now I cannot recommend it for anything.
