Gottry-Unsettled Surface (SP)-B/V/C/X/2M/P

Unsettled Surface by Josh Gottry is based on two ostinato figures, each set within a four-measure phrase. The idea of this composition was to be driven by repetition with metric variation that prevents the repetition from becoming settled in the listener's ear. Unsettled Surface is written for 7 performers: bells, vibraphone, xylophone, marimba, timpani and two percussion (egg shaker, hi-hat, ride cymbal, woodblock and cajon). Run time is approximately 3'25".
