Many students and aspiring professionals are quite familiar with this difficult passage because it's required audition material. The Grover KeeGee is designed to make this and other audition repertoire easier and more fun to practice.

The extra shallow maple shell gives you a great response that extends all the way down to the ppp dynamic registrar. Effortless execution of soft passages is facilitated by the close proximity of Grover Pro Performance Snare Wires to the upper playing surface. After purchasing the 1st generation Grover KeeGee snare drum and not being satisfied with its sensitivity, I emailed Grover Pro Percussion with my concerns. The company was right on top of it and asked me to send the drum to them so that they could retrofit a new, more sensitive snare mechanism to the drum. When the drum was returned, it was like playing on a completely different drum. Now the drum is sensitive to the slightest touch and perfect for Lt. Kije and other soft snare parts! Hopefully, all new KeeGee purchases have been retrofitted with the new snare mechanism. Thanks Neil Grover for the tremendous customer service!

I was excited to buy the new Grover KeeGee drum since I will playing Lt. Kije this May. When the drum arrived, I was surprised to see that the drum comes with a coated Remo Ambassador batter head. Great head for drumset but not for Lt. Kijie! After trying various heads (Stern calf, Remo coated Diplomat, Nuskyn Diplomat) and head tensions, I was further surprised that the drum still did not have much snare sensitivity. So it's now on to changing the snares. What a pain! Hopefully, I can get this drum to a professional level, but it looks like it's going to take some work.
