I never had any issues with this breaking, but that being said I've only tried using a 6" at the largest with this, so I'm sure based on how it felt, it would easily break with any more weight than that. Get a different clip, there are better options.
A complete waste of money. My first one exploded while in rehearsal and my four inch triangle clattered to the floor. I reported this to Grover and they sent me a replacement which promptly disintegrated in my hand while trying to attach it to a stand. I emailed Grover again and they've completely ignored my messages.
The "zip tie" on these triangle clips broke the first time that I used them.
Grover, stop doing us a disservice and discontinue this piece of crap and DO IT NOW. The only thing this can hold up is the plastic tie that comes with it. If you try to use it on a thick stand, it will explode into pieces. Make sure you don't lose an eye. A truly despicable product.
I've seen three of these break the first time my friends at school tried putting their triangles on them. Do NOT buy this clip, stick with the wooden one. I have the wooden one and it has not failed me yet, trust me, spend the extra few bucks and save yourself the frustration
