Description
1001 NIGHTS for percussion solo was composed in 2014 and was based on the percussion concerto GROOVE! (2010).
It is the first part of GROOVE!, edited for percussion solo especially for Dominique Vleeshouwers, winner of the Tromp Concours 2014 in Eindhoven (NL).
The inspiration was drawn from the rhythms inherent to the Arabic and Middle Eastern traditions. The percussion set-up consists of typical traditional instruments such as daf, darbuka, riq, Qaraqibs etc.
