Legends of Percussion is a collection of original solos by Murray Houllif, written in the styles of the great percussionists of the 20th century. Each piece pays tribute to a different legend, capturing the musical personality and stylistic hallmarks of its subject through idiomatic writing for the individual instruments those players were known for. The collection includes biographies and discographies of each featured percussionist alongside the music, making it both a performance resource and an introduction to the history of the instrument. This is the solo edition; a duo edition is also available.
