This work features a solo percussionist in many different aspects. The first and last movements feature rhythmic, driving, intense material on the the battery percussion instruments. The second movement shows the lyrical side of the player through a vibraphone focus.

Murray Houllif was born in 1948. With over 150 published books, solos and ensemble compositions, the music of Murray Houllif is performed all over the world. His varied and continuing performance experience has lent much inspiration: Catskill Mountain show drummer, concert percussionist with the Long Island and Nassau Symphonies, his own Ambira Mallet Quartet, The Atlantic Wind Symphony, jazz and rock drumming, etc.
