Hoyos-Paisaje Accidentado (SP)-V/Cro./M/P

Paisaje Accidentado by Jorge Hoyos is a single-movement piece with a variety of moods that dissolve into each other. Although the work is meant to be performed as a continuum at least three different moments can be recognized: Festivo, Contemplativo, and Ligero.

The work was inspired by the landscape of the composer's hometown of Medellin, Colombia. The city is set on a valley in the middle of a chain of mountains that made access to it very difficult in the past. The piece also has a strong cultural influence, as it displays a number of Latin-American rhythmic and melodic gestures without establishing any particular folk rhythm.
