Description
Introduction to Jazz Vibes, by Gary Burton, is the first true formative study written for jazz vibraphone. The purpose of this text, as stated by the author, is to "gain complete technical freedom through the greatest development of facility and control" as opposed to the study of "rehearsed licks". This text will help the advanced improvisor to "clear his mind of automatic phrases and rehearsed patterns, so as to create freely and with the least restriction"; "to give the student freedom with unrestricted technique"

This book takes you thru a series of exercises that will develop a complete knowledge of the keyboard, and of chords and melody, it will give you a tool box of musical goodies to pull from when improvising. A must for the Jazz mallet player.
