Description
Minazuki-no-Oto (Sounds of June) by Isao Matsushita is an incredibly unique work for solo vibraphone (with recorded water sounds). This piece was commissioned and premiered by Takafumi Fujimoto in 2005.
"I am drawn to the unique sound of the vibraphone, its long reverberations and its sense of mystery. Accordingly, I have used this instrument in many of my works and it has become one of my preferred instruments, especially in my orchestral music. There are many methods of maximizing its charm. In this piece, I often use the "Arco" technique, in which the performer uses a bow to strike the instrument's keys. I aimed to create long Arco sounds that swayed in unison with the prerecorded sound of gentle water." - Isao Matsushita
