I've been through a lot of shakers over the decades, but this one is by far the best that I've ever used. Great ergonomics due to size and weight, and a very warm sound as well as very responsive to different playing styles. A combination of the wood materials and the choice of beads for the interior, I imagine. It is also truly gorgeous, whereas other brands look like kids' toys and most of them use inferior woods. I will be ordering the smaller version soon. I wish they also had a middle size available. So far I have ordered several instruments from Jamtown and all have proven to be true works of infiormed craftsmanship, despite the cheap prices.
