Peter Jarvis composed The Year of the Vibraphone (Op. 125) in celebration of the centennial of the vibraphone, which was invented by the Leedy Manufacturing Company in the United States in 1921. The piece is dedicated to Henry Schluter, who was responsible for several major improvements while developing the instrument for J.C. Deagan, beginning in 1929.
