Jarvis-Jazz Sketches (SP)-V/VC

Jazz Sketches by David Jarvis is a duet scored for cello and vibraphone. This piece features three contrasting jazz moods. The first movement, Livin In The City, is a musical description of urban life and has a fast paced straight eighth feel. The second movement, Blues Lament, is a slow and somber dirge that uses jazz harmony and a bluesy melodic line. The final movement, Street Walkin', pays tribute to Leonard Bernstein's West Side Story in a swing style. Duration: 10 minutes.
