Grest starting point - good for drummers learning to trade fours and solo. It's a medium difficulty book and takes some work for drummers new to jazz soloing. I would recommend finding phrases you like and working on variations. Also spend time with the book Stick Control companion - work thru the rudiments ideas and jazz solo sections - which will help you to use sticking and rudiments with dynamics and accents to create a jazz language.

Bought this book for my son - he needs a drum solo for solo & ensemble festival (high school). Not much to say except that it's a good product for its intended purpose.
