Thrower-Rhythms of Life-M (opt. strings/perc.)

Rhythms of Life by John Thrower is a Theme and 10 variations in one movement, in rhapsodic form. The piece can be played as a solo, or concerto with string orchestra and percussion. This is the same marimba part as for the "concerto" of the same name.
br<>There is a basic story to the composition which deals with the life cycles of an individual from birth until death. The variations are as follows:
1.Innocence of a child
2.Dreams of youth
3. The first challenge
4. Stormy years
5. Coming of Age
6. Finding a direction
7.Then there was love
8. Illusions of the mind
9. Cycles of life
10. Path to Eternity

The duration can vary from 23-28 minutes depending on the style of the soloist. Commissioned by and dedicated to Bogdan Bacanu.

Difficulty - Generally, one of the most difficult pieces for Marimba, yet some variations are of medium level. Requires well-grounded musical background.
Instrument - Solo marimba (5.0 octave, 4 mallets)
