Description

Classic African by Joseph Aiello presents traditional African drum rhythms to the timpani solo medium. The opening sequence is a very traiditional, orchestral sounding timpani solo. It then breaks open into an exciting 12/8 African groove with separate parts for each hand. An excellent recital choice!

Number of Players: 1

I was looking for a solo tympani piece that incorporated some classical elements and also some different musical styles. So many pieces today are about one style or just too avant sounding. This music was surprisingly different. It started very orchestral and legit. Soon after though you are changing styles to 12/8 African Tribal, just swinging, flipping the mallets over and flying around the instrument and having an absolute fun. The piece is great, I couldn't believe what I had found...what a gem. I played the piece for a recital and totally brought the house down. Everyone wanted to play it and took it to the practice room. Does this author have any other pieces out? ....It's fantastic

I was looking for a solo tympani piece that incorporated some classical elements and also some different musical styles. So many pieces today are about one style or are just to avant sounding. This was surprisingly different. It starts very orchestral like and legit. Soon after though you are changing styles to 12/8 african tribal, just swinging, flip the mallets over for a bit and have absolute fun!!!! Wow....this piece is fantastic. I couldn't believe what I had found. What a gem of a piece. I played it for a recital and literally brought the house down. All the percussionists wanted it and are working on it now. Does this author have any more pieces out? It's really that good.
