I haven't tested this in the real world yet, but so far so good.
It includes a lot of the percussion noises I use a lot for pit work, 4 at a time, for a really good price.
Good sounds, simple programming. It has the annoying feature of several instruments I've seen whereby it shuts off after a half hour of inactivity, but that can be bypassed.
The construction is plastic so I wouldn't be using it for heavy metal or anything like that but as long as you respect that limitation it should be quite useful.
Great for school!

I like this product a lot. I am considering buying several of them for my classroom; they take up little space, portable, can be used with headphones, speakers, or amps. I can envision teaching fundamental drum set skills on these; switching to a real drum set should be pretty easy.
These can also replace having timbales, another set of claves, and other various percussion instruments that are expensive, take up space, and are used only occasionally.
The output volume is pretty low. I plugged it into a little amp, and I have to crank it up all the way in order for it to be heard when playing with wind instruments.
Also, I wish the hi hat sound was more accurate to the real thing. There are two hi hat options, and neither are very great.
Otherwise, great product!

KAT Multipad is compact and easy to use. The playing surface is very hard, and doesn't feel at all like a real drum. The sounds that are programmed into it are ok, but the USB port allows this device to be use with a computer, so it is possible to find many more sounds. I am currently using the Multipad in an orchestra pit along with my Mallet Kat Grand and various other percussion instruments. Because the Multipad and pedals are so compact, I am able to play set and percussion without taking up the entire pit. It also makes it easier to reach everything.
