Kepley-Matafnik(SP) M/3P

Matafnik begins with layering a variety of sounds, creating interesting composite rhythms and visual patterns. The paradiddle, a common percussion rudiment, is used as the basis for the second section of the piece. The performers then transition to the marimba, providing a new timbre to the previous musical material. The middle section takes on new character as the melodic ideas are expanded. The piece concludes with a recapitulation of the opening section.
