King-Tour de Danse, Le (SP)-M/FL

Le Tour de Danse is a six-movement work for flute and marimba by composer Anthony J. King. The piece was written with the dual goal of challenging both performers technically while maintaining lyrical melodies throughout. Each movement draws from a different cultural tradition, giving both performers exposure to a range of stylistic challenges while keeping the music engaging and accessible for a general audience. The first movement, El Canto del Toreo ("The song of the bullfighter"), is inspired by the Spanish-Mexican bullfighting tradition and is presented in a Mexican mariachi-style fanfare.
