Description
Kingdom Five Departed by Michael Varner for percussion ensemble. This composition is a rhythm poem similar to the orchestral tone poems of the Romantic Era. Although this work is technically made up of seven movements, it is to be performed without breaks.
Instrumentation:
Player 1 - bongos, 2 congas, 4 Japanese temple gongs
Player 2 - snare drum, 4 metal pipes
Player 3 - snare drum, timbales, 4 brake drums, lion's roar, slapstick
Player 4 - 4 high toms, muted cowbell
Player 5 - 4 low toms, sleigh bells
Player 6 - timpani, brake drum, triangle, cymbal
Player 7 - bass drum, castanets, high gong
Player 8 - bass drum, tambourine, low tam tam
Player 9 - crash cymbals, 2 suspended cymbals, violin bow
