Heinrich J. Hartl, born in 1953, studied piano, organ, Catholic church music, and composition at Nuremberg's Meistersinger Conservatory. In his compositions, Hartl mixes elements of jazz and medieval music with 20th century compositional techniques. This produces highly original and individualized music which creates a sound world that is specifically its own.
