Description
Mississippi Rag by W. H. Krell arranged for percussion ensemble by Jason Baker.
According to many sources, Krell was the first to publish a composition with the word "rag" in its title, namely Mississippi Rag (1897). Despite the fact that this piece is more of a Cakewalk than a Rag, Mississippi Rag continues to be widely performed and recorded by all manner of artists. Jason Baker has arranged this piece for five percussionists: solo xylophone, glockenspiel, vibraphone, and two marimbas (written to fit on one 4 ½ marimba). Drop 6 has given this piece a grade 3 rating and the run time is approximately 2'16".
