The Liberty Bell Mallets are wonderful for student use. Students really like the feel and sound produced even when playing cheap bell sets. The price is GREAT for small school budgets. I always am pleased with my purchases from this business. Have been buying since 1988! Thanks!!

I bought three pair of Liberty One LLB Lexan Birch Bell / Xylophone Mallets. Two pairs for students to use and one for me. I was very impressed with the sound they produced, even on cheap bell sets. The students were very impressed with their "new" sound! I have always been very pleased with all my purchases from Steve Weiss. This dates back to 1988 set of four timpani! Steve would be happy with how well the business continues to serve all levels of musicians.

I really, really like these mallets. I use them for xylophone and bells. They give a nice, clear tone so even those students who play by barely hitting the keys can be heard (which is one of the main reason I like these). I prefer to use them on bells because they don't have the "ting" sound brass mallets have, nor the "thudded" sound of hard rubber, but a very definite "ping" that can be heard above the band. However, I bought these for high school and middle school. My beginning high school percussion classes did okay with these. They're chipped some but not too bad. But my 6th grade beginners... It looks like they stuck them in their mouths and chewed on them like jaw breakers. I would seriously consider who you are buying them for and what kind of use they will get. If you know they'll be given proper care, I would strongly recommend these. But if you're looking for a bunch of beginners, get a harder plastic or a hard rubber.

I love the sound these mallets get on both bells and the xylophone. I bought two pairs each for my high school and middle school bands, and the price was great considering I'm in a low-budget district. However, if you have students who like to "play" with this equipment and aren't careful with it, these will chip very easily. But if you have students who take care of equipment, I would 100% recommend these.
