Honestly, they're dirt cheap, but seriously, they're actually not half-bad. I got a couple pairs in junior high and high school, and to this day, as a collegiate percussionist and timpanist, I still use them, even as I've expanded my collection of more high-end timpani mallets! I like the sound I get from them, and they feel really nice in my hands, especially when rolling.
