Description
Our Liberty One Caxixi (pronounced ka-shee-shee) are hand woven basket shakers made in the Brazilian musical tradition. Featuring a mix of organic and synthetic materials, these hand made instruments can achieve an array of articulations when played by a skilled performer. Lush legato tones can be produced when played horizontally, as well as a fast striking articulation when the internal beads are thrown toward their coconut shell base.
Traditionally found accompanying the Berimbau and other authentic Brazilian instruments, Caxixi have gained popularity from modern composers for their unique timbre and tonality, making them a great addition to any percussionist's collection.

I like the lower-pitched, full-bodied, mellow, crunchy-like sound. I like wide diameter of the basket, which makes it easy to generate and control the sound. I wish that the base was flat, to more easily create a clean, brief strike sound. I wish that the beads were made of seeds or pebbles, instead of plastic. Also, I don't want or need paint on the outside of the basket. Nevertheless, very nice.

Despite the fact that I still cannot spell ku-she-she, this instrument is a great value. You can always expect quality instruments from the Liberty One product line.
