Having a double row of bars gives your sound a much fuller feeling than having just a single row of bars. So I'm happy with my purchase. I can't say I'm really raving about the metal beater. It's pretty useless. I think the most effective way to play this instrument whether you are a rock drummer or a percussionist with a symphony orchestra is to use your fingers. Unless LP comes up with a better mallet to strike the bar chimes I think that simply sweeping your fingers against the bars will give you the cleanest, most controlled glissando.
