I prefer this beater over all other felt beaters out there. It is slightly softer than all the rest, making it the warmest sounding in my opinion. I am basically a traditional Jazz drummer, but in my 57 years of playing drums I've played everything from Symphonic Band to Jazz to Pop to Hard Rock. This model has served me superbly in all of those styles. It is, in my opinion, the best sounding, best responding felt beater made.

I was brought up on Round Felt Bass Drum Beater. Strayed away for many years then decided to use them again. I did have a Ludwig Speed King in my teens. All I have to say is I love these Felt beaters. My playing is more even, especially the double bass playing. The L1286 feels natural.
