I went on a drum buying rampage and bought all the major brands of concert snare drums with 2, 3, 4 and 5 different snare wire combinations. I think 4 is the right number. The color is more black than brown and the finish is beautiful. I bought 2 Majestics. This and the 14 x 5 Maple which is also a great choice. This one had a box so big I thought they had shipped me a free jacket. The case is HUGE and super padded. Maybe 3 inches thick. Paid $800 to $900 for some other snare drums. This is a show stopper. Great tone. The selection of snares is easier than some other brands. There are some I wish I had not purchased but not this one.

I was in the market for a nice new snare drum as I have become more serious about my playing. I bought this drum off of a recommendation from my private teacher, and it was the best decision I have ever made. Although the price is not measly, it is FAR cheaper than it could or should be. It is the nicest snare I have had the pleasure of playing on, better even than drums costing over $1000. I HIGHLY suggest it if you are in the market for something professional and high quality, with its price just being an added benefit!
