Mallet Fantasia by Arthur Lipner and Jens Wendelboe is a mixture of themes and textures which reflect Arthur's interests in Jazz, World Music and the orchestral traditions of America and Europe. This piece, originally titled "HYPRIDSATION" uses both vibes and marimba together as a soloistic lead.
Employing the use of different performance techniques on the vibes and marimba, two improvisational sections and several cadenzas, Lipner and Wendelboe have created a musical environment of freedom and structure, sound color and intrigue, beauty and energy.
