Multi-tonal mallet

These mallets have a wide timbre. Warm sound in lower registers at a soft dynamic, and bright, pointed sound when played loud. The core is very hard as described (some might call it a rock). It is a bit too hard, personally. You can damage bars with this mallet if you play too loud, too low, or with too much tension. Not a beginner mallet.
