Description
MarimBrahms is a marimba trio arranged by Jeffrey T. Parthun, Sr. for three 4.3 octave marimbas, two mallets each. This marimba trio uses three melodies written by the brilliant German composer Johannes Brahms (1833-1897). The arrangement opens with the famous theme from the last movement of his Symphony No. 1 (Op. 68), continues with the closing theme from the Academic Festival Overture (Op. 80) and closes with a small portion of perhaps the most famous of all Brahms melodies: the Lullaby (Wiegenlied, Op. 49, #4). Brahms has been acclaimed as being a member of the "Three B's," a fraternity of the greatest "classical" composers of all time including fellow B-named composers Bach and Beethoven.
This arrangement may be played on one 3.5 octave (or larger) marimba. When using one instrument, there are a few moments when the players are very close together but the parts will not cross. This arrangement is appropriate for beginners.
