The Meinl Slap-Top Cajon allows you to play the cajon in a more comfortable and familiar style. By bringing the slap top cajon striking surface up into your lap, you can play in an upright, seated or standing position. The sound hole in this cajon projects towards the audience to make sure you are heard. Two different tones and a snare sound are built into the slap top cajon sound board, opening up many playing possibilities.

This has a conga-type tone that is very nice. The snare sound reminds me of a marching snare drum, not so much a typical cajon sound, and the bass sounds almost nonexistent. I'm sure with a mic this could be at least partially fixed, but it still doesn't compare with the real cajon in my opinion. For comfort this is great, and it's fairly portable, but don't expect the regular cajon sound from it.
