Description
Mexican Music for Marimba arranged for 4 players by Terry L. Baldridge. Written for a 5 octave marimba, these arrangements attempt to imitate the performance style of the traditional jarocho instruments. Part one of the marimba ensemble plays the arpeggiated notes of the arpa part, while part two plays the requinto and vocal lines. The harmony part assumes the role of the jarana, and the bass part covers the bass line of the arpa. It would also be possible to play this music on a four octave marimba if the bass part were played on an acoustic or electric bass.
