"The Rapids" was premiered by the Brazoswood High School Percussion Ensemble directed by Eric Harper. This is a dynamic work with twists and turns for a large percussion ensemble. Basic four mallets skills are necessary for the marimba and vibe parts.

Daniel Montoya Jr.(b. 1978), Austin native, jelly bean lover, and inveterate sweet tea drinker, continues to rise in the world of wind band, percussion, and the marching arts. An active composer and arranger, Montoya is currently pursuing a master's degree in music composition, under the tutelage of David R. Gillingham, at Central Michigan University. He also holds a bachelor's degree in music composition from Texas State University and has studied privately and participated in composition master classes with William Bolcolm, Kevin Puts, and Russell Rie
