Nazziola-Slippery When Wet (SP)-B/V/X/M/DS/P

With the addition of upright bass, this work for percussion sextet was conceived in the manner of a chamber jazz/funk ensemble. Musical lines have been created in much the same way as for a combo setting of piano, guitar, sax, bass, drum set, etc. A strong sense of groove governs the music with each part filling in some aspect of the rhythmic feel. In this work, as with many of my other compositions for percussion, the goal is to present the percussion ensemble in a versatile setting - at times mimicking an orchestra, wind ensemble or other instrumental groups. Additionally, drum set plays a soloist role throughout.

Player 1: glockenspiel, large bamboo wind chimes, sus. cymbal, two woodblocks (low, medium), finger cymbal, standard wind chimes and violin bow (for sus. cymbal)

Player 5: three shakers (shaker sticks or broom sticks – dry sound, caxixi, lat leaf seed pod shaker), congas, djembe, woodblocks (three pitches – low, medium, high) and large bamboo wind chimes
