Receiving my C Ake Bona I immediately noticed rust corrosion marks under the clear lacquer. For the high price of the drum, it was not living up to "Pearls" standard of past quality products. After playing it inside a few days, I took it out in the sunlight and realized how bad the corrosion problem was which just got painted over by the builder. This was definitely not a drum I would play in a group or to an audience. Emailing Steve Weiss the problem he forwarded the letter and complaint to Pearl who were very concerned. They mailed me a prepaid return package and 10 dsys later I had a replacement without all the corrosion tracks covering the drum. Only problem was a deep wide scratch 3/4" long on the drum side, and a note it had been opened and photographed before sending. Well packed, it was an oversite. Like the quality control of the first corroaded drum, it gives me serious reservation to recommend a Pearl product now. I own an older Pearl drum set and a fine Pearl 765 silver flute. But my concern for missing quality control today makes me think twice before purchasing their name again. If you want top quality tongue drums buy "Nataraj". They have superior sound and an excellent finish. I have 2 abd love the. Sorry Pearl. Also, you need to supply carry bags for these drums and mallet stick that cost more the 10 cents to include in these expensive drums. The competition has you beat.
