An amazingly good gourd style guiro, not too large and not too small, good pitch center, great dynamics, very ergonomic to hold and to play. I already have two other gourd style guiros from the Caribbean, but decided to give this one a try as it is cheap and I have had excellent luck with other instruments from Jamtown so far (any product you see listed with "JT" at the head of the product code, is from this interesting supplier who apparently focuses mostly on instruments for the education and kids' market and yet builds pro-level gear vs. junk). Although these likely vary in size, mine is 11" long. The scraper is of good quality; not flimsy as some are. As the grooves are wide, it's a bit more like a Cuban guiro, but those are much larger (around 17"), so it's almost like a hybrid with a Puerto Rican guicharo, which typically are around 11" long but with narrower groove spacing.
