I have used drum sessions 1 and 2 extensively for about 10 years for teaching beginning drum set students. They are the best method I've found so far, covering coordination, fills, music reading, play along, and natural drum set thinking, all in a logical, progressive way. They work very well for weekly lessons, and for students with no previous music and/or drum set experience. Sessions 2 starts to get into jazz coordination. The play-alongs, although starting to sound dated, fit in very nicely with the coordination sequences. Highly recommended. I hope could Kjos publishing continues to keep them in print.
