Description

Peter Saleh's A Percussionist Handbook is not a method book, but a hands-on, no-nonsense, practical resource for teachers and performers serious about their craft. This 100+ page text is a result of years of experience in the trenches of student and professional situations and favors a direct conversational tone.

A Percussionist's Handbook has been used for instruction and supplemental materials by the Central Jersey Youth Percussion Ensemble, Ithaca College, the Juilliard Pre-college Percussion Ensemble, the North Carolina Governor's School, and Global Percussion, Inc.

"You can spend twenty years learning this material through trial and error,
or simply read this book cover to cover." -Joseph Tompkins, Rutgers
University/New York Freelance

". . .essential and valuable information for any aspiring percussionist. . .
gives the reader insight into the process of being an organized, successful
performing percussionist that goes well beyond the "normal" school
experience. Bravo!" -Mark Ford, University of North Texas

Very practical and useful material contained in this handbook! I especially appreciated the lists of items and gear that percussionists need to have -- things I tend to forget until I need them in a pinch -- like a door stop, plexiglass music clips/weights, stuff like that. And "A Dozen Things You Will Figure Out Sooner or Later". It is useful to have many tips and "tricks of the trade" for percussionists in one place. Perhaps the book could be laid out in a slightly more attractive and organized manner, but it still certainly does the job. I will be referring my students to this book!
