Description
Prelude for Percussion Trio by Robert G. Meyers. This piece is designed to employ some compositional contrasts inherent in the 9/8 metric framework. The basic rhythmic pattern used consists of 2+2+2+3 which alternates at times with 3+3+3.
Instrumentation:
Player 1 - xylophone, glockenspiel, cymbal, guiro, triangle, woodblock, temple blocks
Player 2 - timpani, crotales (F, B, E), low suspended cymbal, high suspended cymbal, bass drum (with foot pedal), low timbale, triangle, high timbale, snare drum, bongos, tambourine, ratchet, finger cymbal, whip, sleigh bells, castanet
Player 3 - piano, claves, cowbell, maracas
