The SPYRs were part of Promark's effort to improve the quality of their production line, and I would personally say they're successful. These mallets feel extremely good to play with, have a nice solid heaviness to them, and are very warm. They've really quickly become one of my favorite mallets to play on - my students and I jokingly call them "the pillows". One thing I would warn against however is that they aren't quite "roll" mallets. They don't get a lot of "spread" like other soft mallets might - instead, they get a clear, focused attack, but it is not harsh or bright. This is perfect for those looking to play soft or lyrical music that still requires enough articulation to have clear separation. They roll ok, but they shine on moving passages that demand soft implements.
