Very good concert bass heads

Just used these to replace the heads on a 28" bass drum I was "re-purposing". It came with "dead" heads appropriate for marching (Remo "Powermax"). I wanted to use it as an orchestral-type bass for pit use. I am used to fiberskyn 3 heads for that, but I think these might be better for an intermediate-size bass like a 28".
Without any muffling, they ring forever like a gong - which is perfect! You can always deaden a live head, but going the other way....? Good luck.
With a minimum of dampening, these get a nice, rounded full tone out of my bass.

Best material for concert bass drum besides calf. The thickness of the material lends itself to sounding like natural material more than mylar. Other bass drum heads have their place though, and should not be dismissed. Nuskyn gives me enough sound control on bigger and smaller concert bass drums, without automatically having to grab a towel, or use muffling with my hands or knee. This 32" drum still has a Renaissance head on one side and gives me a wide timber. On my 40", I have Nuskyn on both sides. Be aware of getting the head wet, as it will get stained.

I'd been wanting to try this head for a while. Mounted one side of my 36" concert bass drum with the Nuskyn head, and the other side has calf. It's a good combination for me. The Nuskyn BD head sounds better than any other plastic head on the market, IMHO.
