Neeraj Mehta's brilliant arrangement of Domenico Scarlatti's Sonata in D Major: Allegro K. 119 is a fantastic addition to the existing marimba duet literature. In 3/8 time, this piece consists of running 16th-note figures and arpeggios that get passed between the two marimbists. Because of this musical material, this sonata requires serious listening and cohesion from both marimbists. There are also various types of ornamentation, requiring knowledge of Baroque performance practice.
