Skies by Stanley Leonard for percussion ensemble. The sky is a great unifier. When people on the surface of the earth look up they all see the same sky. Our view of the universe "out there" only varies by our position on the face of the globe. The universe does not change its character or reality. If we happen to find ourselves moving through that immense sky we see diversity below. The music of this piece is a commentary on our planet's diversity and the unity that is our greater universe. The listener becomes a virtual traveler while listening to the sounds and may choose the perspective and destination.

Player 7 - Three Tom Toms, High Sound, Crotales (two octaves)
Player 8 - Three Tom Toms, Low Sound, Tuned Gongs (one octave C-C)
Player 9 - Small Tam Tam, Large Tam Tam, Suspended Cymbal, Crash Cymbals, Tambourine, Timpani
