Description
Sonata No. 2 in E-Flat Major, Op. 102 by Camille Saint-Saens arranged for marimba quartet by Michelle Martin. Arranged for two 4.3 octave marimbas, one 4.5 octave (low F) marimba, and one 5 octave marimba.
Dr. Michelle Martin (Mickey) is a freelance percussionist, recording artist, clinician, arranger, and educator who has taught at The University of Texas at Austin and Albany State University. Dr. Martin has also completed several arrangements for percussion ensemble which include works by Bartok, Debussy, Saint-Saens, Granados, and Stravinsky. Violin Sonata No.2 in E flat Major was completed in 1896 some eleven years after Saint-Saens had completed No.1. While the first sonata is highly romantic, the Second is more classically inspired.
