Description
South of the Border by David Mancini for percussion quintet. This piece is written in the style of Brazilian samba music and Afro-Cuban music. It utilizes many of the traditional percussion instruments that are common to both of these styles of Latin music.
Instrumentation:
Player 1 - agogo bells, bongos, large cowbell
Player 2 - repinique (can be substituted with the high drum of the timbales)
Player 3 - tamborim, snare drum, shekere
Player 4 - surdo (can be substituted with large two headed floor tom)
Player 5 - drumset
