Description
Kalahari means wilderness and is really a place - the desert known as "Botswana and Namibia." This ensemble by Steve Grimo deals with colors and delicate sounds that can be produced with percussion instruments. The bewildering vastness and perilousness of space can be imagined through the slow tempo and the use of a 12 tone row. The melodic material captures the indefinite tone center searching for a resting place and, through the use of rhythmic phrases, manages to find several points of relief. Imagine all sounds floating through time and wilderness.
