in Denis Stilke's own words: The pieces presented here were the result of dealing with rudiments, stickings and other snare techniques, the combinations of which seemed particularly interesting to me. It was not a matter of putting together only the most difficult figures, but rather of a musical idea that varies, is contrasted or further developed in the course of the piece, so that a great musical suspense arises in the end. A good technique, i. above all, the safe control of the rudiments and the ability to dynamic play, facilitate the handling of the material enormously. In this sense, the pieces give incentive and motivation to examine the personal technique, to work on potential weak points, and moreover, to be creative yourself.
