Description

This Tama Hi-Hat Z Rod allows for mounting of auxiliary Hi-Hat Cymbals on the rim of a marching snare or within a drum set. The knurled Z-Rod fits the Tama MC8 Hoop Grip and includes a Hi-Hat Clutch and Felts. The Clutch is adjustable allowing for the hats to be played in a fully closed position or slightly open.

On a cocktail kit

I'm using this on a cocktail kit. I have a Gibraltar that I tried 1st, and it was too heavy for the setup. The thinner rod on the Tama suited my needs better, however I found the clutch heavy and clumsy and replaced it with the wingnut from the Gibraltar. I also used the Gibraltar's spring (which you can purchase at a hardware store) between the HH cymbals so I can vary the tension on my 10" Zildjian S HH's. If I were using this as an auxiliary hat it would have been great out of the box, though.
